ArtShow: Bill Cunningham’s Facades

Photographer Bill Cunningham’s “Facades” will open at the Southampton Arts Center in partnership with the New York Historical Society with a reception on Saturday at 5 PM. Bill Cunningham moved to New York City in 1948 and became one of the most influential authorities of style and society of his time. In 1968 he started his Facades project “just for the fun of it.” Scouting out locations, he grabbed his camera, dressed a friend in period clothing and photographed the city’s architecture in images that suggested the distant past.
