It's the literary event of the season. East Hampton Library's 11th Annual Authors Night will be held on Saturday in East Hampton Village. The event has grown over its 11-year history to become one of the nation's leading annual literary events, featuring 100 esteemed authors across all genres. The evening's Founding Honorary Co-Chairs Alec Baldwin and Barbara Goldsmith will be joined by 2015 Honorary Co-Chairs Ed Burns, Robert A. Caro, Dick Cavett, Tom Clavin, Nelson DeMille, Christina Baker Kline, and Lynn Sherr. Proceeds from this special event benefit The East Hampton Library. The evening begins at 5 PM with the Authors Book Signing Cocktail Reception under the tent, where guests will enjoy delicious hors d'oeuvres and wine and have the opportunity to meet and mingle with the authors, buy their books, and have them personally inscribed. At 8 PM, directly following the Authors Reception, guests will be hosted at dinner parties at private homes in honor of one of the guest authors. Publishing firms and authors generously donate the books for Authors Night, with 100 percent of the book sale proceeds benefitting the East Hampton Library. Dinner party hosts also underwrite all of their party expenses. The funds raised at Authors Night represent approximately 10 percent of the East Hampton Library's annual operating budget and are used for essential programs and services at the Library throughout the following year. In addition to the Honorary Co-Chairs, other participating authors include: Jonathan Adler, Arlene Alda, Dan Barber, Kate Betts, David Browne, Bill Dedman, Simon Doonan, Florence Fabricant, Jules Feiffer, Tracey Jackson, Phil Klay, Katie Lee, Thomas Maier, Fern Mallis, Wednesday Martin, Judith Miller, Bob Morris, Charlotte Moss, Marc Murphy, Allison Pataki, Bernard L. Schwartz, Mimi Sheraton, Michael Shnayerson, Stephanie Smith, Lettie Teague, Victoria Tennant, Matthew Thomas, Dr. Ruth Westheimer, Paul Williams, and Colleen Saidman Yee. The list of all participating authors can be found on the Authors Night website (www.authorsnight.org). At the benefit the library will raise roughly $300,000, welcoming 2000 attendees to the Authors Reception cocktail party under the tent and seating over 600 guests at the dinner parties throughout the community. Tickets are $100 for the book signing reception (which takes place at Field at 4 Maidstone Lane, East Hampton Village), and begin at $300 for the dinners (this also includes entry to book signing reception). Tickets and complete event information are available online at www.authorsnight.org, at the Library, and by phone at 631-324-0222 x7.
