DazeDish: The Backyard At Solé East

On Friday night a friend and I headed to The Backyard Restaurant At Solé East in Montauk for dinner. The restaurant is a hidden gem, offering a fun, lively and fresh concept, focusing on local and sustainable seasonal cuisine with a European influence.

Chef Tony Berkhofer was born and raised in Montauk and his passion for local, homegrown produce and sustainable seafood is evident in the menu.

We started with the white wine sangria off the cocktail menu. It was a refreshing drink that we would highly recommend.

For our appetizers we opted for the beet salad, with roasted beets, goat cheese and balsamic roasted red onion, which was a fantastic starter. Also, the white pepper seared tuna with chilled sesame noodles and carrion ginger coulis was fresh and delicious.

On to the main course. We tried the herb brined half roasted chicken with broccolini and roasted fingerling potatoes, which was a great menu option with complimentary flavors. The skirt steak with chimichurri sauce was also top notch.

For dessert the tiramisu and the fruit crumble were both fantastic options and the perfect way to end this spectacular meal.

The outdoor space at Solé East is a Montauk sanctuary, like relaxing in a beautiful backyard with tables placed throughout the garden surrounding the pool. The elegant outdoor atmosphere is completed with a roaring fire pit, tiki torches and day beds. The dining room features a clean and fresh atmosphere.

The Backyard Restaurant at Solé East is open for lunch and dinner and hosts a Bossa Nova Brunch on Sunday.
