Bay Street Theater & Sag Harbor Center for the Arts presents the launch of GE Smith’s Portrait Series, produced and curated by Taylor Barton. These concerts will be in high demand with some of the most dynamic and in demand musicians around. GE Smith played with Hall and Oates, Bob Dylan, Roger Waters and is most known as the leader of the Saturday Night Live (SNL) band for 10 years (1985 – 1995). It was arguably the best late-night band on television at the time and garnered GE an Emmy Award for his work. “Portraits” will pair GE and his band with legendary painters, actors and writers to showcase rare musical talents. “Portraits” has recruited the band members of SNL, Ethan Hawke, Roger Waters, Carter Burwell, Dan Rizzie, and Ralph Gibson, and a few others to be announced, to join him for an intimate evening to play their favorite tunes on various nights this fall. GE, a supreme musicologist, and sideman to all, will explore his passion for R&B while highlighting his guests’ musical ideology.
