SpaUnique founder Monique Wisniewski-Santana is the skincare guru of the Hamptons. Located on Main Street in Southampton, Monique is responsible for keeping many faces looking young and fresh. No "foo-foo" facials here. Monique is about getting her clients serious anti-aging results. Give us a little background on SpaUnique: I was working for a physician at a medical spa here in The Hamptons, when the spa decided to move and close up shop. I had all of my clients that I was not willing to lose, so I was forced into action. It was smooth and fast. The best thing that could have ever happened to me. That was back in 2008. I've been independent ever since. Each year I try to add a new service to be on the cutting edge of anti-aging. I do medi-spa type treatments. Serious anti-aging. If you're looking for the "foo-foo" facial, as I call it, I'm not your girl. I do treatments that get results. A nice even pace, with great results. Some of my treatments include a collagen building laser (non-invasive), IPL (intense pulse light) for brown spots, redness, skin conditions, broken capillaries, Microdermabrasion, Dermaplaning (the latest and BEST craze) with Chemical Peels (yes, they can be mild without looking like a wreck). All treatments can include the décolleté too! Also, Laser Hair Removal and Mineral Makeup application. Soon to come . . . Microneedling with serum. I can't wait to offer that. All aspects of injectables [are available] from the incomparable Dr. Ronit Adler. Everything from Botox to PRP, Dr. Adler is a true artist. She began injecting my clients from the beginning and we are a great team. What are some of your most popular treatments? Definitely IPL or Photo Facial as it can be called. It evens out skin tone so much and really gives the skin a huge glow. Also my Dermaplaning/Peel/Oxygen treatment. This treatment includes all three done in one session and is my most popular treatment with great results. I sell them in packages, where clients do them once a month all year round. If a person asks for a "facial" this is my go to treatment. Laser Hair Removal of all areas is extremely popular as well. Tell us about your private skincare line, Jeunesse Skincare: I started Jeunesse Skincare about five years ago. I had these ingredients in my head for a moisturizer but I needed a chemist's help. After much research, I worked with a company for about two years on the recipe and it's consistency. From there I created a line based on the all natural and organic ingredients the company had to offer. My moisturizer is my pride and joy. Vitamin Infused Moisturizer. It has active vitamins (like beta carotene, grape seed extract), protein, and antioxidants that your skin needs for anti-aging. Sometimes it tingles when it goes on. That is the antioxidants at work. I am not them. I don't do pyramids! Tell us about some of the other products you offer: I am not opposed to using and selling other brands' products that my line does not carry. Along with Jeunesse Skincare, I love Skinceutical serums and retinol. MD Solar Science is the mineral sunscreen I use in my treatments and sell. Glominerals mineral makeup, along with Revitalash products. I also carry Hampton Handpoured candles. They are just delish! What does the future hold for SpaUnique? Currently I am in my second year at an office right on Main Street, Southampton. I have a boutique office by appointment only. I love my space, love my office. I hope to be treating here for a long time. My office is the perfect size, kind of reminds me of a Manhattan Loft. My talented brother-in-law at Detrano Construction did all the hard work in the renovation. I have wonderful clients and welcome new. It's just the doctor and I, and I love it that way. Do you have any specials right now? Currently we are offering package of Dermaplaning where you buy five you get your sixth free. It includes Dermaplaning/Peel/and Oxygen all in one treatment. Clients can purchase a package of face only or face and décolleté combined. Either package comes with the sixth treatment free and a free Vitamin Infused Moisturizer. It's a huge deal. Any advise for our readers? Save your skincare for the professionals. Don't trust these pyramid companies. A person who gives you advice about your skin and/or sells you or recommends products to use should be a licensed professional only. Remember, you do not have to do intense treatments in order to get great results. I believe in an even keel, steady pace. Yes, in order for you to have results, you should expect some reaction. Otherwise, it would not be anti-aging. Lastly, your esthetician is not a magician and does not have the "magic wand." As much as we want the best for you, we have to work in order to achieve those results. Follow protocol and beautiful things can happen. I always say beauty starts from within. Treat your body well on the inside, not just your outer skin. We all must age but we can do it with grace and beautiful skin!
